5) Green Festival Expo
The Green Festival Expo is the “largest and longest-running sustainability and green living event” in America. This year, it will be taking place at the LA Convention Center, Los Angeles between September 16th – 18th. At the Green Festival Expo, companies come together to show off their green products and services designed for environmentally-friendly consumers like us. The expo has something green for everyone with products from all industries being displayed ranging from fashion, food, health and construction. There’s also the option to listen to inspirational speakers and partake in some educational activities throughout the expo.

4) One Young World
One Young World is an annual summit that unites young leaders and dreamers from all over the world. These young leaders meet with world leaders to “debate, formulate and share innovative solutions” to some of the biggest problems facing the planet today. After the summit, the young leaders known as the “One Young World Ambassadors” then work on initiatives to make the world a better place.
To attend the One Young World summit you need to apply. Requirements are that you must be 18-30 years, have leadership ability and are committed to making positive change. Applications are to be made on the One Young World website.
Oxjam is a one-month Oxfam music festival that takes a place across the UK every October. The event is targeted at music lovers (which is pretty much everyone) whose common goal is to make the world better. Music events take place in all areas of the UK that help raise funds for Oxfam’s mission to end global poverty. Within it’s 10 years of existence, the event has grown big and has many celebrity supporters from Jarvis Cocker to Fatboy Slim.
There is an opportunity for everyone to be involved in Oxjam, whether you want to organise an Oxjam event in your area, be a performer or just stand back and enjoy the music.
2) Social Good Summit
The Social Good Summit, which is held annually during the UN General Assembly Week, is a two-day conference that focuses on how new media and technology is impacting social good initiatives across the globe. The summit features a diverse range of people from powerful leaders to smaller activists who discuss what potential technology has to make our world better. Participants from all across the globe can link up via video and social media to discuss these issues as well as attend events in New York.

1) Global Citizen Festival
Now in it’s 5th year, Global Citizen Festival is the ultimate festival for those seeking to make the world a better place. Taking place in Central Park, New York, the event is an all-day music festival featuring some huge headliners from Rihanna to Metallica.
To get your hands on tickets, you need to sign up to the Global Citizen site and then perform a range of actions targeted at ending extreme poverty. For each action you do, you are given a number of points and when you reach 28 points you’re entered into a draw for tickets.
