Changing the world is a big task and, naturally, you will need convincing about how it is possible. This PDF will show you ten reasons why we at Better World International believe our wonderful planet is becoming a better place.
1. People are naturally good
The biological notion of reciprocal altruism shows that it is in our best interests to be good to one another for the benefit of our survival. This I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine approach to dealing with problems has ensured the survival of humans for thousands of years! Although some may need encouraging more than others, at Better World International we firmly believe that in the right environment everyone has the capacity to do good and change the world to a better place.
2. The launch of #GlobalGoals
Social media is a powerful tool. You don’t need a crash course in advanced marketing strategy for someone to tell you that. It is important, however, to make sure that this powerful tool is used for good purposes. Numerous international institutions – such as the United Nations – which share our values are using social networks such as Twitter to spread causes similar to Better World International to the Dreamers. #GlobalGoals is an objective to make the world a better place for everyone and particularly encouraging investment in education for females.
3. The nonprofit sector is increasing drastically
In America between 2002 to 2012 the number of nonprofit organisations registered with IRS rose from 1.32 million to 1.44 million.
In 2012, nonprofits in America acquired $2.6 trillion in revenue and had $4.84 trillion in assets. This is a growth of 36.2% and 21.5% respectively adjusting for inflation.
This shows that there is a vast market for Better World International. Our market research shows that from the 80 million millennials in America 39% of these meet our criteria of a Dreamer. This means that there are approximately 31.2 million people in America that want to help us. If we apply the same calculation globally, that means that out of the 1.8 billion millennials across the planet we have a potential of 702 million people to help change the world–the only issue is bringing them together!
4. Only a minority of people are Dreamers.
Now this section sounds negative. If only a minority of people are Dreamers then what’s the point in Better World International? Well, at Better World International we aim to be realistic about our plans to change the world. We know not everyone in the world will be Dreamers and that’s perfectly okay. You don’t have to be a Dreamer to do good. We simply want to use our Dreamers to encourage people to do good in their local environment. That way, Dreamer or not, they will still be changing the world and making it a better place! Everyone can do a good deed, so our reachability is endless!
5. In 40 years, the Dreamers will be the eldest generation
The majority of our Dreamers are millennials so that means we are quite young. That’s good because we are full of energy and passion, but it can also be bad as we lack the authority and power to truly change the world. However, in 40 years when we’re all at the top of our career ladders we will then be able to make a difference. We just have to keep changing the world one small step at a time.
6. People want change. They just need encouragement.
One of the biggest issues we noticed at Better World International was that the majority of people do want to change the world, the only issue is they don’t know how or no one has pointed them in the right direction. At Better World International, we aim to be the platform which changes that and gives people the means they need to start making a positive difference in the world around us.
7. People are already changing the world around them to make it a better place.
The amount of people volunteering in the UK and USA is impressive. Although the graph below shows the amount of volunteers decreases at some parts, the fact 40% of respondents consistently stated they had volunteered in the past year shows people across the UK are waking up each morning wanting to make the world a better place.
We have also noticed a change at Better World International, too. We are getting more comments on our articles and we are ranking higher in Google searches. We are gaining brand awareness as more people join our cause and take the first steps needed to make the world a better place for all!
8. Technology is advancing.
The second point about #GlobalGoals provided a brief introduction to this section. The reach of technology is huge. At Better World International, our newsletter provides constant updates about the latest technological advances in sustainable development. From an aeroplane that flew without fuel to a self-filling water bottle, technological developments can make the world better for us all!
9. We can follow in great footsteps
At Better World International, we always look for inspirational people to write about. We firmly believe in a grassroots approach when it comes to social movements and if we can find one single person that inspires our Dreamers we know that the positive actions that follow will be limitless!
10. We have to create a better world, otherwise there won’t be a world left.
With the threat of climate change, we must make the world a better place. With the way society currently operates we will be lucky to see the end of this century. We need to ensure humanity places sustainability at the forefront of its innovations and priorities the health of our beautiful planet to make sure we are able to live a prosperous life for years to come!
